Reporting

For the project "Reporting system – Treatment results" several steps of data determination have been followed by a working group of technical experts.

As a first step, results regarding "de-pollution" and "recycling and recovery quotas" have been determined by examining the treatment results of 2002 which proved the need for a common data structure and calculation model for results.

This was followed by the creation of a common reporting system for treatment results. The structure of this reporting system consists of background data including, but not limited to the following:

• Common lists of names for input and output fractions – based on the European Waste Catalogue (EWC)
• A common list of names for the technologies used
• A model classification for different input fractions to different "final processes" (available judgments of the European Court have been searched for this classification)
• A calculation model for the calculation of "shares" for the reuse of components or WEEE, material recycling, energy recovery and disposal, which are the basis to calculate "recycling & recovery quotas"

The key element of this calculation model is that only final fractions, which might be the result of different steps of separation and which are input into the final process, can be used for any classification regarding material recycling, energy recovery and disposal.

The project culminated in the creation of the WF_RepTool, a piece of software that allows treatment partners of systems to report their recovery and recycling quotas. You can view a demo version of the software. For more information, please go to the WEEE Forum Reporting Tool.
