Dear Madam/Sir

On 1 April 2011, the WEEE Forum, the European association of 38 producer responsibility organisations for WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) (https://www.weee-forum.org//), approved a set of standards with respect to the collection, sorting, storage, transportation, preparation for re-use, de-pollution, recycling and disposal of all kinds of WEEE. This package is referred to as ‘WEEELABEX’ (or ‘WEEE LABel of EXcellence’), a project run by the WEEE Forum in co-operation with stakeholders from the producers’ community and waste processing industry. The project (2009-2012) is co-financed by the European Community under the LIFE programme (LIFE07 ENV/B/000041).

All WEEELABEX deliverables can be downloaded from the WEEE Forum website:

All 38 members of the WEEE Forum subscribe to this initiative and intend to integrate, in the coming months and years, the WEEELABEX requirements into their contracts with operators.

We are confident that this set of standards is taking the sustainable WEEE management business to the next level.
